Fuel Gauge: tank side arrow

The other day I was going to fill up my tank at the station. The pumps were all busy and there were cars queuing up haphazardly. In this temporary chaos I got flustered and forgot what side my tank was on.

Nick leaned over and said, “it’s on the side where the arrow is pointing.” Huh? There’s an arrow? I had no idea. Turns out this is a common feature that I’ve looked at countless times and never noticed.

Funny how we can the miss the obvious until someone points it out to us. So here’s our list of  10 things that we do as Realtors that you might not notice:

  1. We will (reluctantly) make your bed before an open house.
  2. We will go with you to the bank to pick up the deposit cheque so you don’t have to carry it around feeling nervous. It makes us nervous, too.
  3. We squeal at our computer screens with excitement when we find a great listing for a client.
  4. We water your plants.
  5. We call your lawyer, your mortgage specialist, your movers to make sure everything is is going as planned.
  6. We carefully plan out the route and timing for a set of showings to balance never having to wait for the next showing with flexibility if we want to stay somewhere longer.
  7. We get the heebie-jeebies walking into creepy basements.
  8. We still have to know how to use a fax machine.
  9. We know all the back routes and sneaky parking spots in the city.
  10. We will actually surf listings for fun. Real estate porn.
