We like maps of the city. There are so many ways to see and get to know Toronto. With Remembrance Day this weekend, we bring you a map with a somber purpose.

During World War I our fine city lost approximately 2% of its male population; below is an interactive map that shows where these brave men lived.

Read it on Global News: Global Toronto – Grief’s geography: Interactive map of Toronto’s First World War dead

Working with the Canadian Great War Project, Global News created this map adding a new human dimension to a war that took place nearly 100 years ago. More than just stats, this is where they lived. Where they were hoping to come home to.

This Remembrance Day the weather is supposed to be beautiful. If you find yourself walking around your neighbourhood perhaps it’s a good time to think about what coming home means to you.

Lest we forget.
