From our Where to buy in Toronto with a $700,000 budget feature: say hello to South Riverdale.
South Riverdale (E01)
Boarders
North: Gerrard St. to Carlaw Ave. then along the railway line
West: The Don River
South: Lake Shore Blvd. E
East: Greenwood Ave. (until Queen St. E, then Leslie St.)
Why we like it
TREB calling this area South Riverdale is deceiving since the ultra cool neighbourhoods of Leslieville and Riverside are also found within it borders. For west-enders looking to buy and feeling priced out of their ‘hoods, Queen East is the new West Queen West (but ask us what we think the new Queen East is). If you like to eat and like streetcars you’ll like it here. Trust us, or at least spend a day there and then trust your (very happy) gut.
What you get for $700,000
In 2013, 224 or nearly 70% of all the sales in this area were under $700,000 and 143 of those were under $600k. Prices are increasing quickly in the area, now might be a good time to pounce.
