Address: 365 Dundas St E, Toronto
Neighbourhood: Regent Park, Moss Park and/or Cabbagetown South – who’s asking?!
Past Life: Imperial Optical Lens Factory
Year Built: 1940s
Year Converted: 2000
Number of Stories: 2
Number of Units: 41

Why are the Century Lofts special? Um, because they’re awesome: exposed concrete mushroom columns, 11.5 feet concrete or wood ceilings, industrial windows and sliding barn doors. The building blends seamlessly into the surrounding streetscape with it’s Art Deco style. You could walk right past and not even realize that it’s a residence. Some of the ground floor units have private terraces and direct street access to their suits.

Why should I buy one? Because of the gentrification of the neighboring Regent Park, silly. Cool new businesses are opening every day (well not everyday, but often!) and the young people are moving into the surrounding hood. This bodes well for property values in the area over the coming years. Get it? Got it? Good!

So, what’s the problem? They hardly ever come on sale – people seem to like living there for some reason or another. Only one unit sold in all of 2012.
