What the current owners love about living at 134 Spruce.

What features have you grown to appreciate while living here?
It’s proximity to the Don Valley for running and dog walking; the sound of birds in the backyard – “it’s like Italy right here,” said a friend – and the twenty years of wonderful dinner parties inside and out and by the fireplace.

What are the key selling features of the neighbourhood?
The proximity to the ravines, the farm and Cherry Street YMCA but also that we are a (healthy) walk from downtown as well as the Distillery District.

What is the biggest change you’ve seen over the years?
More families moving in.

Do you have a favourite neighbourhood walk?
Through the farm and up Riverdalle East to the Rooster Café or to Chinatown or up Sumach to Wellesley and down Parliament to Tasso’s Bakery for Toronto’s best pastries, to St Jamestown butchers, MWM for fish, a coffee at the newly renovated Epicure, a browse of Spruce for gifts and then a pint at the House on Parliament.

What aspect of the home’s layout works particularly well for you?
The kitchen and light streaming in, the quiet of the office, the privacy of the street front rooms looking down Sword that no one else easily looks into; the wonder of the covered porch. The kitchen doubles in size during spring, summer and fall as we eat outside.

What improvements that you have been made will be most appreciated?
Marvin windows, reinsulated walls, finished basement,, back garden stone and fence work
